Gophers add Kansas transfer to roster.

The University of Minnesota women's tennis team is excited to announce that Vasiliki Karvouni, a transfer from the University of Kansas, will join the Gophers for the 2021-22 season.

Karvouni joins the Gophers after two seasons with the Jayhawks that saw her earn 14 singles wins and 5 doubles wins. In her sophomore season, the left-hander posted eight singles wins, including a four-match win streak, from her primary No. 4 singles position.

The Athens, Greece native is a star in the classroom as well. The 2021 Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree posted a 4.0 GPA and helped her team set a program-best 3.64 GPA.

Karvouni was ranked as high as No. 154 by the ITF and held a WTA ranking of No. 1038. She is the second power-five conference transfer to join the Gophers this offseason and the fifth new addition to the 2021-22 roster.

"We are excited to welcome Vasia [Karvouni] to our program and will look for her to make an immediate impact on our team," said head coach Catrina Thompson. "We are also looking forward to having our first left handed player in years in the mix at practice and in our lineup."
