MINNEAPOLIS -- The Golden Gophers track & field and cross country program has announced its team captains for the 2021-22 season.
The women's side will be lead by Abby Kohut-Jackson, Akilah Lewis, Amira Young, Sophie Schmitz, Tess Keyers and Val Larson, while the men will be headed by Alec Basten, Ben Psicihulis, Kaleb Siekmeier, Kion Benjamin, Mike Herauf and Owen Hoeft.
Basten, Kohut-Jackson and Larson return for their third years as captains, and Schmitz, Young, Herauf and Hoeft will all be entering their second seasons in the role.
The veteran group has a total of 47 collegiate seasons under their belts, with Basten, Hoeft, Kohut-Jackson and Larson all entering their sixth year donning the Maroon and Gold.
The Gophers will announce their 2021-22 schedules next week.
