Virginia Beach, Va. – The Gopher women's golf team wrapped up the first and second round of the Evie Odom Invitational. The team currently ranks 8th in the tournament after an impressive second round team performance culminating in a round score of five-under par (275). Coming off of receiving Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors, freshman Luisamariana Mesones recorded a score of three-over par (73) and two-under par (68) in the first and second round respectively.

College of Charleston currently stands in 1st place with a two-round team score of fifteen-under par (565).

Quotable:
"Wow what a comeback for this group, we didn't even know if we were playing golf today until 7am and had to get our minds right," said Coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "We focused on the controllable and executed well. Their winning attitudes were contagious today and the energy was dynamic. I'm excited to see what we can do tomorrow, with another opportunity to go low. Anytime you shoot under par as team is fun but to shoot 5 under is exhilarating!"

Notable:
Mesones tallied four birdies in round two, finishing at par from holes 12 through 18 with the exception of one birdie. She heads into the final round in a tie for 6th with a two-round score of one-over par (141).

Freshman Isabella McCauley earned five birdies in the second round, completing two rounds with a total score of four-over par (144). She is tied for 16th place.

Senior Emma Carpenter registered four birdies of her own during the second round. Her two-round score of five-over par (145) has her in a tie for 22nd.

Grace Curran notched two birdies in the second round and put together a two-round score of twelve-over par (152), placing her in a tie for 59th in the tournament entering the final round tomorrow.

Leah Herzog ended with one birdie in the second round. She comes into the third round in a tie for 71st after logging a two-round score of fifteen-over par (155).
