Name: Jordan Buerman
Hometown: Osseo, Minn.
Age: 15
Sport: Gymnastics
A gymnast herself, Jordan doesn't allow Goltz Syndrome, a prosthetic foot, or being legally blind stop her from achieving her goals. Joined by her family, Jordan officially became a Golden Gopher on Saturday afternoon.
Head coach Jenny Hansen emphasized that Jordan's resilience is something that everyone can admire, noting that she has been – and will continue to be – an inspiration for Gopher Gymnastics.
"Jordan, you recognize what it takes to be a key member of this team, and your willingness to handle and overcome adversity is sure to be an inspiration to everyone," Hansen said. "Adding you to our roster is an important piece of the puzzle. You've already inspired us with your strength and ability to overcome challenges."
Senior Halle Remlinger spoke about how excited the team is to welcome Jordan to the group, noting that they've enjoyed spending time with Jordan and getting to know her.
"It's been really exciting to see you come out of your shell more and to see more of your personality each time we get together," Remlinger said. "We love hearing about your love for reading, your love for books, and also your love for sleep, because that's something we all need and value. I just know, Jordan, that you're the perfect match for our team and that you embody what our team is all about."
Once Jordan officially became a member of the team, the Gophers were able to present Jordan some new gymnastics gear, including a leotard and Gopher Gymnastics t-shirts.
