Heise, Vetter Win WCHA Awards for Second Consecutive Week

Taylor Heise won WCHA Forward of the Week and Skylar Vetter won WCHA Goaltender of the Week for the second straight week.

MINNEAPOLIS – For the second-straight week fifth-year forward Taylor Heise and sophomore goaltender Skylar Vetter were both named WCHA weekly award winners. Top-ranked Minnesota swept No. 5 Minnesota Duluth over the weekend.

Taylor Heise earned her second WCHA honor of the season and the fifth WCHA Forward of the Week award of her career. The captain tallied four points over the weekend (1g-3a) including the overtime-winning goal on Friday. Heise recorded a goal and assist on Friday and a pair of helpers on Saturday to give her a team-leading six multi-point games this season. The Lake City, Minn., native finished with a plus-two rating on the weekend.

Skylar Vetter earned her third WCHA Goaltender of the Week honor this season and fourth of her career after stopping 50 shots over the weekend in a sweep over fifth-ranked UMD. Vetter made 27 saves in an overtime victory on Friday and followed it up with 23 more on Saturday for her career-high seventh victory of the season. The Lakeville, Minn., native has posted a 1.80 GAA and a .928 Sv% this season. 

No. 1 Minnesota (9-0-1) is set to face St. Cloud State (6-6-0) in the 2022 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Faceoff Classic, tonight at 7:00 pm at Andover Community Center.
