MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota head softball coach Piper Ritter has announced the team's complete schedule for the upcoming 2023 season. The Maroon and Gold are set to play four Big Ten Conference home series including the inaugural Gopher Softball Classic, being held at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Minnesota's schedule features a strong slate of opponents. Seven teams made an appearance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, while two finished in the NFCA Top 25.

The 51-game schedule kicks off with a trip to Leesburg, Fla., at the Northern Lights Tournament from Feb. 10-12 as part of a five-game tournament. The Golden Gophers will face Western Kentucky, Butler, Portland State, and Colgate.

Minnesota then travels to Chapel Hill, N.C., taking part in the B1G/ACC Challenge from Feb. 17-19, to compete against North Carolina and Virginia.

The following weekend, the Maroon and Gold will travel to Baylor from Feb. 24-26 as part of a three-game tournament. Minnesota will take on Texas A&M Commerce, Baylor and fellow Big Ten foe, Maryland.

Before heading home, the Gophers will stay in the sun at the Judi Garman Invitational in Fullerton, Calif., to compete with the likes of Oregon, LSU, Cal State Fullerton, Seattle, and Loyola Marymount from March 3-5.

Their last stop in The Golden State includes a match up at San Diego State against the Aztecs on March 5.

The home schedule begins with their host tournament at U.S. Bank Stadium from March 10-12. Minnesota will host North Dakota State, Central Michigan, Idaho State, Drake and St. Thomas.

Before kicking off Big Ten Conference play, the Gophers will travel to Kansas for a four-team tournament hosted by Wichita State. Their tournament includes three matchups with the Shockers, two against South Dakota State, and a single game versus Northern Colorado.

The Big Ten season begins on the road March 24-26 against defending regular season Big Ten Champion, Northwestern. Other conference road matchups include Michigan State (April 14-16), a mid-week doubleheader at Wisconsin (April 19), and Ohio State (April 28-30).

Action at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium will occur four times this season, hosting back-to-back conference series against Penn State (March 31-April 2) and Indiana (April 7-9).

Minnesota's other home series include Iowa (April 21-23) and Michigan (May 5-7).

The Big Ten Tournament is scheduled for May 10-13 in Champaign, Ill., as the top 12 teams from the Big Ten will compete to win the tournament title.
