Seven Gophers Named to Team USA Ahead of Rivalry Series Against Canada

Three current Gophers and four Minnesota alumni will represent the United States in two December exhibition contests.

MINNEAPOLIS – Three current Gophers and four Minnesota alumni have been named to the Team USA National Team roster ahead of the two December contests against Team Canada in the 2022-23 Rivalry Series, USA Hockey announced on Monday.

Current Gophers Taylor Heise, Abbey Murphy and Grace Zumwinkle will don the Red, White and Blue during Minnesota's winter break in the schedule. Heise (10g-15a), Murphy (11g-7a) and Zumwinkle (9g-16a) each rank in the top three in points among Gophers this season. Minnesota alumni Hannah Brandt, Amanda Kessel, Kelly Pannek and Lee Stecklein will also represent the United States after participating in the November edition of the Rivalry Series.

Team Canada has yet to announce its roster for the Rivalry Series games in December. Gopher alumna Sarah Potomak represented Canada in the three Rivalry Series games in November.

The December games in the 2022-23 Rivalry Series will take place in Henderson, Nev., on Dec. 15 at The Dollar Loan Center and in Los Angeles on Dec. 19 at Crypto.com Arena.
