Minnesota Hosts Ohio State for Saturday Afternoon Showdown

The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team returns home to Maturi Pavilion on Saturday, February 12 to face Ohio State at 4:00 p.m. CT. The event will be streamed on B1G+.
Last Time Out
The University of Minnesota gymnastics team took down Illinois with a final score of 197.125 to 195.725 in Champaign, Ill. The Gophers won each event title on the way to the victory and improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the Big Ten.
It was a day for debuts as Maddie Quarles made her collegiate debut on floor and Gianna Gerdes made her debut on both beam and floor. Freshman Marissa Jencks made her official collegiate debut for the Gophers as she led off the vault lineup.
Junior Halle Remlinger earned her second career title on floor with a 9.925, the first coming in 2020 at Ohio State.
Minnesota's 49.375 on beam was the highest score on the apparatus this season.
Gophers In the Rankings
Minnesota comes in at No. 6 overall in the national rankings. The Maroon and Gold is ranked second in the nation on vault, 11th on bars and 182h on beam and second on floor.
Ramler is ranked in the top-20 in the country in all events, including in the all-around (5), on vault (10), bars (5), beam (2) and floor (18). Loper continues to be nationally ranked as the No. 1 gymnast on vault and No. 9 in the all-around. Mya Hooten is ranked No. 5 in the nation on floor and Maddie Quarles is No. 16 in the country on vault and No. 29 on floor.
B1G Weekly Honors
Most recently, two Gopher gymnasts were honored for their stellar performances against Michigan. Mya Hooten was named the Big Ten Specialist of the Week and Ona Loper earned Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors.
Hooten recorded the second perfect 10 of her career on floor, which is also the second perfect score on the event in program history. In addition to her 10.000 on floor, Hooten scored a 9.850 on vault and 9.800 on bars. This is the second B1G Specialist of the Week award in her career.
Loper posted a career-high 39.725 in the all-around, highlighted by the fourth perfect 10 of her career on vault. Loper also added a 9.925 on floor along with a pair of 9.900 on bars and beam. This is the fourth time she has been recognized as the B1G Gymnast of the Week.

The No. 22 Buckeyes are 3-0 against Big Ten foes this season, with their most recent victory coming Monday night in Lincoln, Neb. Ohio State earned a 196.675-196.350 win over Nebraska with six gymnasts reaching career-high scores and four hitting scores of at least 9.900.
Ohio State won the uneven bars and floor titles for the second week in a row against Nebraska. The team scored a season-high 49.325 on uneven bars and recorded a score of 49.175 on floor for the win. Nine gymnasts have earned individual event titles this season, including Stephanie Berger, Edwards, Hankins, Hlavach, Ella Hodges, Sydney Jennings, Miller, Riccardi and Vetter. Edwards leads the way with five wins. She has earned an event title at four of the team's five meets of the year.
Colby Miller joins the group of now seven Buckeyes who have hit 9.900s this season. Miller tied her career-best on uneven bars against the Huskers with a 9.925 to help the Buckeyes to their best score in the rotation this season. Lexi Edwards, Alexis Hankins and Jenna Hlavach have all posted team-high scores of 9.925 on floor. Nicole Riccardi has posted at least a 9.900 in all three of her appearances in the Buckeye lineup this season, with a career-high 9.925 against Nebraska. Tory Vetter hit a 9.900 on beam against Penn State.
