PEORIA, Arizona – Joanne Free (even-par (72), two-under (70)) and Leah Herzog (one-over (73), two-under (70)) had the two lowest scores through two rounds for the Gophers as the University of Minnesota women's golf team played 36 holes at the Westbrook Invitational at Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Ariz.

As a team, the Gophers finished with a score of five-over (293) in the first round, while finishing round two with a score of five-under (283). After the first two rounds, the Gophers sit at fifth overall. Their total puts them back nine strokes of leading Mississippi State and seven strokes behind second-place UNLV and Nebraska.

Quotable
"With a really great collective effort we've positioned ourselves in 5th place after 36 holes, shooting even par (293-283)," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "We had really positive energy from start to finish today and I am so pleased with how we applied our practice to competitive golf today. It's always satisfying when we see things click on the course for our players. To shoot 283 with three players under par shows the depth & talent we have. We're excited to compete for a title tomorrow!"
