Winters Selected for 2022 State Farm College 3-Point Championships

All-Star event held at Xavier University of Louisiana to air live on ESPN on March 31
New Orleans (March 25, 2022) – Deja Winters has been selected to the Rocket Mortgage Women's 3-Point Championship roster for the 33rd annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at Xavier University of Louisiana's Convocation Center in New Orleans on Thursday, March 31. Winters is one of eight players selected for the event that will air live on ESPN at 8 p.m. CT.
In her lone season in the Maroon and Gold Winters proved to be one of the Big Ten's most impactful graduate transfers. While averaging 11.2 points per game Winters posted a career-best 41.6 percent from three this season and completed her five-year collegiate career with a 3-point shooting percentage of 35.1. Winters, who was named an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention performer by the members of the media, made 246 career threes during her career. She connected on a career high 74 threes during the 2021-22 season in Minneapolis and posted a career high 30 points in Minnesota's second matchup with eventual Big Ten Champion Iowa on Feb. 9, making a season-high five threes while connecting on 11 shots.
Intersport, producers of the event, invites twenty-four of the nation's elite men's and women's college basketball players to compete for slam dunk and 3-point shooting bragging rights. The night features the Great Clips Slam Dunk Championship, the TaxAct Men's 3-Point Championship, the Rocket Mortgage Women's 3-Point Shooting Championship and the Applebee's Team Shootout. The winners of the TaxAct Men's and Rocket Mortgage Women's 3-Point Championships will then compete in the State Farm Battle of the Champions.
For more than 30 years, several of the top players in college basketball have competed in the College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships including: Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Jason Terry, Kyle Korver, Bobby Hurley, Michael Finley, Allan Houston, Wesley Matthews, Yogi Ferrell, Cappie Pondexter, Katie Gearlds, Kristi Toliver, Tiffany Hayes and Ariel Atkins.
