Minnesota Tied for Tenth After Wrapping Up Day Two of Conference Tournament

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The University of Minnesota women's golf team scored +17 (301) in the second round of the Big Ten Championship in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Gophers' day two score places them in a tie for tenth with Penn State heading into the final round of the tournament on Sunday.
Junior Grace Curran finished round two with a score of one-over par (72). She ended with five birdies on the day, which led the team. Michigan is in first place after 36 holes played, leading the Maroon and Gold by 34 strokes.

"We really had a good round rolling this morning but we again made mistakes that compounded," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "It's frustrating to see the ability but the results don't follow. We have one more round tomorrow to send our seniors out the right way and finish the season on a high note."

Curran had three of her five birdies on the back nine, which is where the Gophers started their round today. Curran's strong second round led her to a tie for 36th place finish after two rounds.
Senior Joanne Free had two birdies in the second round, which pushed her total in the tournament to five. Her second round score of three-over par (74) puts her in a tie for 43rd before the final round. Senior Geraldine Wong finished the round with a score of five-over par (76). After the first two rounds of play, she also sits in a tie for 43rd place.
After adding two more birdies on day two, freshman Alexis McMurray is in a tie for 62nd place. She ended the second round with a score of eight-over par (79).
Ending day two with a score of nine-over par was junior Leah Herzog, who is now in a tie for 78th place after the end of the second round.
Junior Emma Carpenter sits in a tie for 65th place after two rounds of play. She finished the second round with a score of 11-over par (82).
