Aidan Maldonado Named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week

The Rosemount, Minn., native struck out eight in 7.0 innings
ROSEMONT, Illinois -- Gophers redshirt junior right-hander Aidan Maldonado has been named Co-Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The Rosemount, Minn., native went 7.0 innings (ties career-high), allowing just five hits and one earned run while striking out eight in a 3-1 win over Nebraska on Sunday.
In his last five starts for Minnesota, Maldonado is 1-0 with a 2.37 ERA. In those 30.1 innings pitched, he has 38 strikeouts while allowing just 22 hits and eight earned runs. He's the first Gophers pitcher to earn Big Ten Pitcher of the Week since Jack Liffrig did so on April 20, 2021.
Minnesota (14-31, 4-14 Big Ten) heads to Indiana for a three-game series this weekend.
