Kelly, Stahl, Stanke Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

CoSIDA announced all-district honorees Thursday
MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota baseball had three players named to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Baseball Team, it was announced Thursday. Junior infielder Drew Stahl, senior catcher Chase Stanke and redshirt senior third baseman Jack Kelly all earned academic all-district honors.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
A senior catcher from Sugar Grove, Ill., Chase Stanke leads the Gophers with 10 home runs and 14 doubles in 44 games this season. He's hitting .226 with 33 RBI (second on Minnesota) and has started in 43 of a possible 45 games. Stanke, who achieved a 3.90 undergraduate GPA with a finance major, currently holds a 4.0 GPA while pursuing an election administration certificate. Stanke was the lone Gopher to make academic all-district last year.
Redshirt senior third baseman Jack Kelly, who is majoring in finance, holds a 3.57 cumulative GPA. The St. Michael, Minn., native had a career-year, hitting .314 with six home runs and a team-best 37 RBI. He's tied for the team lead with Stanke in doubles (14) and has totaled 15 multi-hit games in 2022. This is the first CoSIDA Academic All-District selection of his college career.
Drew Stahl, a junior infielder from Castle Rock, Colo., was also named to the academic all-district team. After playing in 43 of the team's 45 games this season, Stahl is hitting .227 with two home runs and 14 RBI. He's hit 11 doubles and has drawn a team-best 27 walks and leads the Gophers in fielding assists (87), playing both shortstop and second base. A business and marketing education major, Stahl holds a 3.61 GPA.
Minnesota returns to action this weekend with a three-game series at Indiana.
