Four members of the University of Minnesota men's golf team competed in the 2022 U.S. Open Local Qualifier on May 12 at The Links at Northfork Course in Ramsey, Minn.

Sophomore Ben Warian took the top spot at the event, finishing with a final score of five-under par (67), which earned him medalist honors. Freshman Bennett Swavely wasn't far behind, as he also qualified with a score of three-under par (69).

Warian paired two birdies on the back nine with birdies on holes one and two, with an eagle on hole 5.

Swavely, the Hudson, Wis. native, birdied three times on the front nine, and kicked off the back nine with an eagle. He added two more birdies on holes 13 and 14.

Senior Will Grevlos finished with a score of one-under par (71), which placed him just short of 2nd alternate honors after a four-man playoff. Grevlos had three birdies on the front nine, while adding one more on holes 10-18.

Junior Connor Glynn completed the round with a score of three-over par (75), adding three birdies through 18 holes.

Both Warian and Swavely will advance to the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier, with the hopes of playing their way into the national championship June 16-19 at The Country Club in Brooklyn, Mass.
