Nine Gophers With Men's Basketball Ties Graduate This Spring

The University of Minnesota men's basketball team had nine individuals current student-athletes and alums earn a degree this past semester. The Golden Gophers had six current student-athletes and three alums receive a diploma in May of 2022.
Eric Curry and Payton Willis both earned their bachelor's and master's degrees from Minnesota. Curry now holds a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in youth development and leadership. Willis added a bachelor's degree in business last year and followed with his master's degree in youth development and leadership this past spring. Eylijah Stephens, Luke Loewe and Charlie Daniels both earned their bachelor's degrees at their previous stops (Lafayette, William & Mary and Stephen F. Austin). Stephens and Loewe obtained a master's degree in sports management, while Daniels added a master's degree in youth development and leadership. Sean Sutherlin earned his bachelor's degree this May in sports management.
The Golden Gophers had three alums also receive higher education honors. Andre Hollins (2012-15), who was a Gopher graduate manager the past two years, obtained his MBA through Carlson School of Management and is set to work at General Mills following his graduation. Michael Hurt (2017-20) has three degrees from the University of Minnesota. His most recent was also an MBA from Carlson in business administration.
Tommy Davis has shown it's never too late to receive a degree. Davis played for the Gophers from 1982-85. Davis was drafted in the fifth round of the 1985 NBA Draft and later went on to a successful playing and coaching career in France. However, he never received his degree. Now in 2022 as a part of the Gopher Grad Program, Davis now has a bachelor's degree in multidisciplinary studies from the University of Minnesota that he obtained in May of 2022. Davis was also inducted into the M Club Hall of Fame this past September.
