MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota men's golf team has officially added Minnetonka-native Jacob Pedersen to its roster on Monday afternoon after Pedersen's tender was approved.
Â
Pedersen joins the Maroon and Gold after playing four years at Gustavus Adolphus College, earning multiple accolades and honors during his time in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Â
"We are so excited to welcome Jacob and his family to our program to build on what has been an amazing collegiate career already," head coach Justin Smith said. "His experience and talent will be such a huge impact to a core roster that we are really excited about. Jacob defines what our CommitNorth identity is all about."
Â
During his time at Gustavus, Pedersen led the MIAC with an average of 72.2 shots over 20.5 rounds in 2021-22. He shot par or better in each of his 10 events this season, including seven top-five finishes and earning medalist honors three times. He scored a MIAC-record seven-under par (65) on the final day of the 2021 MIAC Championships in October, earning conference medalist honors. He also earned conference medalist honors in his first season in 2018.
Â
Pedersen was selected MIAC Men's Golf Player of the Year following his first season in 2018-19, which made him the sixth men's golfer in the last two decades to earn multiple MIAC Player of the Year honors and the second to do it in non-consecutive seasons.
Â
Pedersen is one of three new additions for the 2022-23 season, joining Mason Roloff and Cormac Sharpe, who each signed their National Letters of Intent late last year. Â
