MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota women's basketball head coach Lindsay Whalen announced Wednesday the signing of graduate student Isabelle Gradwell to the Gophers' program. Gradwell is a 6-1 wing from Marshalltown, Iowa, who spent four seasons at Cleveland State and joins Minnesota with one year remaining of eligibility.

"I am excited to announce the signing of Isabelle Gradwell today. Isabelle has the unique ability to play several positions and has a great outside shot. Isabelle has experience as a graduate student and will exemplify our program's values of being a great teammate, outworking our opponents, leading on and off the floor and being disciplined in all we do."

Gradwell brings in a wealth of experience to the Golden Gophers with 115 games played at Cleveland State while averaging 4.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, including 5.2 points per game in her latest season where she helped the Vikings to a 23-9 record and a trip to the WBI championship game. While at Cleveland State, Gradwell helped the program win 68 games with a winning percentage of 58.1 percent of their games, including a record of 58-29 (66.6) in the past three seasons.

In her time at Cleveland, State Gradwell and the Vikings won the WBI Championship in 2020-21 where Gradwell finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the championship game. The Marshalltown, Iowa, native posted career highs of 15 points, 13 rebounds while making four threes in multiple games throughout her career in Cleveland. Gradwell has made 81 career threes in 115 games and has started in 53 games in her career, including 28 last season and 17 in 2020-21.

Prior to her time at Cleveland State, Gradwell was a four-year starter at West Marshall High School where she was a two-time North Iowa Cedar League MVP. She was named the Times Republican All-Area Player of the Year and earned All-Region and All-League honors as a junior and senior. Gradwell was voted First Team All-State by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association and Second Team All-State by the Iowa Coaches Association following her final campaign and led West Marshall to a league championship as a freshman and a share of the league title as a junior.

Gradwell becomes the fourth transfer to join the Golden Gopher program this offseason, joining Aminata Zie (WNCC),  Mi'Cole Cayton (Nebraska) and Destinee Oberg (Arkansas). As of June 1, Whalen and the Gophers have completed their transfer cycle for the 2022-23 season and will have 11 scholarship student-athletes on next year's roster.
