MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – After two rounds at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids, Minn., incoming freshman Isabella McCauley took second place at the Class AAA Minnesota State Golf Tournament.
McCauley's second-place finish trailed top-finisher Kathryn VanArragon of Blaine by just two strokes, with McCauley's younger sister, Reese, finishing in third.
The Simley High School senior finished the first round with a score of five-under par (67), placing her in second after one round. Her 2022 state tournament started the same way as her 2019 tournament, in which she took the top spot. Her first-round score of 67 in 2019 was the first part of a historic performance, as she went on to tie the tournament scoring record with a 36-hole score of 135. McCauley won that tournament by ten strokes.
She scored 70 in the second round of this year's tournament, securing her second-place spot and a final two-round score of seven-under par (67-70—137).
McCauley was the No. 1 ranked high school girls' player in 2021 and is a standout in the realm of Minnesota golf. She was awarded 2022 Ms. Minnesota Golf just three days ago, and will look to carry her momentum forward as she joins the University of Minnesota women's golf team this fall.
