Minnesota has the most women among Division I programs honored by CoSIDA this year.

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota led all Division I women's programs with three track & field and cross country CoSIDA Academic All-America honors on Tuesday morning as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Bethany Hasz led the way with her First Team honor for the third straight year. Both Val Larson and Abby Kohut-Jackson improved on their third team honor last year by earning Second Team nods this season.

Recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution in order to be nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-District and CoSIDA Academic All-America. Nominees are voted on by CoSIDA members throughout the year.

A native of Alexandria, Minn., Hasz is now a three-time Academic All-American and a four-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. A seven-time All-American between track & field and cross country, and last year she is the first Gopher to win the honor in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track in one year. The two-time NCAA Midwest Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year is a nine-time All-Big Ten pick and was named the 2021 Big Ten Athlete of the Year (indoor) and the 2020 Big Ten Athlete of the Year (cross country). The owner of four Gophers records, Hasz was the 2020 Big Ten cross country champion before adding conference crowns in the indoor 3,000 meters and the outdoor 10,000 meters. The 2021 NCAA Indoor Elite 90 Award winner is also an nine-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and an eight-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.

A native of Huxley, Iowa, Kohut-Jackson is an nine-time Academic All-Big Ten selection as well as an eight-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. She earned All-America honors in cross country this season for the first time, helping the Gophers finish seventh overall at the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships. She earned a Second Team All-America honor in 2021 and was the NCAA Midwest Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. A four-time All-Big Ten pick, Kohut-Jackson won two Big Ten titles in 2021 in the indoor distance medley relay and the 3,000 meter steeplechase – she also owns school records in both events. Kohut-Jackson will also compete later this week at the US National Championships in Eugene, Ore., looking to make the US World Championships team in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.

A native of DeForest, Wis., Larson is a four-time All-American and a eight-time All-Big Ten honoree. She won her fourth Big Ten title in 2022 in the indoor 4x400 meter relay. Larson and the mile relay team also broke both the indoor and outdoor school records this past season. She is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a four-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
