MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota men's and women's cross country programs have announced its 2022 fall competition schedule. The season, which runs from Sept. 2 to Nov. 19, includes three home events, one of which is the 36th Annual Roy Griak Invitational, Sept. 23.

"We are excited for our 2022 cross country season," Cross Country head coach Sarah Hopkins said. "We have a young group and are excited to allow them to preview the Big Ten and Midwest regional courses early in the year. We also have two of the biggest meets in the country on our schedule with the Roy Griak Invitational and the Nuttycombe Invite. These will give our teams great experience racing the best in the NCAA."

Both programs will begin the season on Friday, Sept. 2, when the Gophers host the Oz Memorial. From there, Minnesota will compete at the Michigan Preview in Ann Arbor, Mich, on Sept. 9. Minnesota returns home to run in the Roy Griak Invitational before traveling to the Missouri Preview and the Blugold Invitational on Sept. 30.

The Maroon and Gold will then take a break from competition until Oct. 14 when the team travels to Wisconsin to run in the Nuttycomb Invitational. Minnesota's final regular season event will be Rocky's Run on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Big Ten Championships will be held at Michigan on Oct. 28. Minnesota begins national competition Nov. 11 at the NCAA Midwest Regional and follows with the NCAA Championships on Nov. 19. The regional will be held at Missouri while the championship is hosted by Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.

Meet times will be announced at a later date, and all schedules are subject to change.
