MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Soon-to-be Gopher Cormac Sharpe was named to the 2022 Home International team for his home country of Scotland on Monday, a selection that recognizes him nationally for his achievements.

Sharpe is one of just nine team members given the honor of representing their country in the upcoming event. The 2022 Boys' Home International will take place August 2-4 at Downfield Golf Club in Dundee, Scotland.

Earlier this month, Sharpe achieved another extremely unique feat as he recorded a hole-in-one in back-to-back rounds while competing for the Carris Trophy, a prestigious amateur event in Scotland. The 18-year-old was recognized by many in Scotland for this incredible accomplishment. These two most recent hole-in-ones raise his career total to an impressive four.

"Cormac is an incredible talent from Scotland," head coach Justin Smith said after Sharpe decided to join the Gophers in November of last year. "Cormac continually competes against the best players in Europe and that will ultimately prepare him well for elite Division 1 golf. Being one of the top players in Scotland, Cormac possesses a passion to compete at the highest level golf can offer. His attention to detail and work ethic will allow him to shine in our championship culture. We are so excited to welcome Cormac and his entire family into our program at Minnesota."

Sharpe will be headed to Minneapolis to join the University of Minnesota men's golf team in about one month, and will start prep for the upcoming fall season with fellow newcomers Mason Roloff, Jack Wetzel and Jacob Pedersen.
