Puttin Joins Communications Staff, Slarks Moves To Men's Hockey, Rowing

Puttin to work with Soccer and Softball teams

Olivia Puttin joined the University of Minnesota Athletic Communication staff today and will serve as the primary media relation's contact for the soccer and softball programs. Scott Slarks, who previously worked with soccer and softball, will now lead all communication efforts for the men's hockey and rowing programs.

Puttin returns to Minnesota after a two-year stint as a graduate assistant at the University of Georgia where she worked with the women's basketball, soccer and equestrian teams. Puttin is a Rogers, Minn., native and played collegiate soccer at Minnesota Crookston. She was a goalkeeper for the Golden Eagles from 2016-18, and she also worked in the school's sports information department.

Puttin spent 2019 as a student worker in the athletic communications office at Minnesota's flagship campus. She worked with Minnesota's women's tennis team and worked numerous events and championships hosted by the Gophers. She also was a special events intern at the 3M Open in 2019 before heading to Georgia

Slarks joined the Minnesota communications department in December 2021 and worked with the soccer and softball teams. The Owatonna, Minn., native returned to Minnesota after a successful stint at Oral Roberts where he was an Assistant A.D. and worked with the men's basketball team and numerous other programs.

Slarks has also worked in athletic communications at Rogers State, Park University, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Millsaps College. He also has extensive play-by-play and analyst experience. Slarks got his start in the profession at Gustavus Adolphus College, where he was a student assistant in the communications office for four years while in school.
