MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota senior-to-be Grace Curran will be playing in the USGA Women's Amateur Golf Championship, which begins on Monday. For the second time in as many years, Curran will tee off with the opportunity to capture a title at the country's leading female amateur golf event. The 122nd Women's Amateur will be played at Chamber's Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash. from Aug. 8-14.
Curran punched her ticket to the event by placing first and earning medalist honors at the qualifying event at Victory Links Golf Course in Blaine, Minn. on July 5. She took the top spot by finishing the first round with a score of three-under par (68), bogeying just once on the day. She birdied the final hole, which ended up securing her spot at the top of the leaderboard, as the next four golfers in the standings finished with scores of two-under par (69).
Tee times and scoring can be found at the link above or at USGA.org. The event will also air on Golf Channel at 5 p.m. CT.
