MINNEAPOLIS – For the second season in a row, 15 members of the University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team were named WCGA Scholastic All-American Award winners, the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association announced on Monday.

The Gophers have now set, and then tied, the program record for award winners over the last two seasons. The student-athletes that were given the 2022 honors are as follows: Maya Albertin, Gianna Gerdes, Kate Grotenhuis, Katie Horak, Marissa Jencks, Emily Koch, Mallory LeNeave, Ona Loper, Abbie Nylin, Lauren Pearl, Lexy Ramler, Olivia Reed, Halle Remlinger, Tiarre Sales, and Hannah Willmarth.

Loper, Nylin and Willmarth each finished the academic year with an impressive 4.0 grade-point average. Gerdes, Jencks, Pearl, and Reed are first-time recipients, with the rest of this year's award winners also earning the honors last year.

Minnesota adds these honors to a season in which 16 team members – Albertin, Gerdes, Grotenhuis, Mya Hooten, Horak, Koch, LeNeave, Loper, Nylin, Maddie Quarles, Ramler, Remlinger, Sales, Ella Sirjord, Ali Sonier and Willmarth – earned Academic All-Big Ten honors and six – Albertin, Grotenhuis, Koch, LeNeave, Loper and Ramler – were named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars. Loper and Ramler added to their own personal academic achievements by earning CoSIDA Academic All-American honors.

To be a WCGA Scholastic All-American Award winner, student-athletes must have a yearly or cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or above. 2022 marks the third year in a row that the women's gymnastics team has had at least 13 members earn the academic award.

The Gophers women's gymnastics team posted a 3.5886 grade-point average during the 2021-22 academic year.
