Minnesota Set to Host Gopher Invitational for First Event of 2022-23

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota men's golf team will return to Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minn. to host the Gopher Invitational on Sept. 11 and Sept. 12.
 
The Gopher Invitational will follow a 54-hole format, playing 36 holes on Sunday and 18 on Monday. Teams will begin first-round play with a 7:15 a.m. CT shotgun start Sunday, with the second round beginning immediately after round one on Sunday. The third and final round will begin at 7:15 a.m. CT on Monday.

Lineup:
Senior Antoine Sale, junior Ben Warian, freshman Jack Wetzel, senior Harrison Arnold, and senior Jacob Pedersen will play in the team lineup, with senior Lincoln Johnson, sophomore Eduardo Galdos, freshman Mason Roloff, sophomore Bennett Swavely, senior Connor Glynn, and freshman Cormac Sharpe competing as individuals.
 
The Field:
The Golden Gophers will be one of 15 teams to play in the event. Joining them is Furman, Notre Dame, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Yale, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan State, West Virginia, Rutgers, Kent State, Toledo, Coastal Carolina, and Baylor.
 
The Course:
Windsong Farm is consistently rated among Minnesota's top golf courses, with additional national recognition as one of the top modern courses in the nation. Originally created by John Fought and Minnesota native Tom Lehman, the course's breathtaking views and unmatched conditions contribute to the ultimate golfing experience.
 
Looking Ahead:
After hosting the Gopher Invitational, the Maroon and Gold will travel to New Haven, Conn. for the MacDonald Cup hosted by Yale University on Sept. 25 and 26.
