Gophers Set to Start Season at Annika Intercollegiate

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota women's golf team will return to the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn. to host the Annika Intercollegiate on Sept. 12 – Sept. 14.
 
The Annika Intercollegiate will follow a 54-hole invitational format, playing 18 holes on each of the three days of competition. Teams will begin first-round play with an 8:00 a.m. CT shotgun start on Monday, with play starting with shotgun starts at the same time on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Lineup:
Minnesota will send out a lineup of freshman Isabella McCauley, freshman Luisamariana Mesones, senior Grace Curran, senior Emma Carpenter and senior Leah Herzog.
 
The Field:
The Gophers take on a field that includes Alabama, Auburn, Arizona State, Duke, Oregon, Virginia, South Carolina, Texas, Florida, Michigan and Wake Forest.
 
The Course:
Continuing the annual trend, the Royal Golf Club will host the Annika Intercollegiate once again. The course features rolling hills, abundant wildlife and mature trees that provide a backdrop to a challenging but approachable course. The front nine was designed by Annika Sorenstam, which was her first project in the United States.
 
Looking Ahead:
After hosting the Annika Intercollegiate, the Maroon and Gold will head to Greenville, S.C. for the Lady Paladin Invitational on Sept. 23 – Sept. 25.
