Gophers Finish Round Two of ANNIKA Intercollegiate

LAKE ELMO -- After day two of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate at The Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn., the University of Minnesota women's golf team slots in at 12th place after two rounds. Following a two-over par performance (74) in round one, senior Emma Carpenter ended round two with a score of one-over par (73).
As it stands, Virginia's score of five-under par in round two helped them remain in first place.

"We really played with some grit today, after another slow start we made some excellent birdies on 8 & 9 to get back to +4 as a team through 9," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said in regards to round two. "As a team we need to continue to be disciplined and clean up silly errors that cost us. We've got another opportunity tomorrow to show we can compete with the best teams in the nation!"
Notable:
Carpenter finished with five birdies in round two, in tandem with a strong showing in round one. She is now tied for 27th place heading into the third round.
After notching three birdies in the round, Leah Herzog was at par from holes 5 through 12. The senior finished round two with a score of one-over par (73) and heads into round three with a tie for 44th place.
Isabella McCauley logged a birdie and completed the round with a score of four-over par (76). The freshman is positioned in a tie for 52nd place in her first collegiate tournament.
Fellow freshman Luisamariana Mesones logged birdies in the final two holes of the round, guiding her to a score of four-over par (76) and a tie for 54th in her first collegiate competition as well.
Grace Curran tallied a birdie in round two and closed out the day with an eagle, ending the round with a score of nine-over par (81) and a 59th place ranking going into round three.
