Gophers Conclude the Lady Paladin Invitational

Greensville, S.C. – The Maroon and Gold women's golf team finished the Lady Paladin Invitational in 6th place with a three-round score of 302-297-288—887. Freshman Luisamariana Mesones headlined round three with a women's golf school record-breaking score of eight-under par (64) in the final round of the competition. Her final round play elevated her into a tie for second, earning the title of Lady Paladin Invitational runner-up.
Furman's team score of two-over par (866) guided them to 1st place in the event.

She also helped propel the team up the leaderboard with a team score of even par 288. This is the momentum we need with a quick turnaround to our next event."
Notable:
Mesones collected eight birdies in her historic round today, completing her second collegiate tournament with a three-round score of 75-70-64—209 which was the second best total in the event.
Senior Grace Curran wrapped up the Lady Paladin Invitational with three birdies in round three, guiding her to 16th place with a three-round score of 71-76-73—220.
Freshman Isabella McCauley secured three birdies from holes 13 through 18, ending her second collegiate tournament with a three-round score of 77-74-74—225. She tied for 35th place.
Leah Herzog was at par from holes 4 through 9. She concluded the Lady Paladin Invitational with a three-round score of 79-77-77—233, pushing her into a tie for 79th.
Emma Carpenter logged two birdies in the back-9 during the final round of the event. She closed out the tournament in 92nd with a three-round score of 87-79-78—244.

The Gophers will head to Virginia Beach, Va. to begin the Princess Anne Invitational on Sept. 30.
