Vetter, Zumwinkle Earn WCHA Monthly Honors

Sophomore goaltender Skylar Vetter is named WCHA Goaltender of the Month for the third time this season.
MINNEAPOLIS – Sophomore goaltender Skylar Vetter and fifth-year forward Grace Zumwinkle were both named WCHA monthly award winners on Tuesday afternoon after strong performances throughout the month of January.
Grace Zumwinkle earned the sixth WCHA monthly honor of her career after a dominant start to the second half. Through the first eight games of 2023, Zumwinkle tallied a team-high 16 points with eight goals and eight assists. The Excelsior, Minn., was named WCHA Forward of the Week to open January after becoming the sixth player in program history to reach 100 career goals. This season Zumwinkle ranks first in the nation in goals (21) and second in points (47) – both good for first in the WCHA.
Skylar Vetter is named WCHA Goaltender of the Month for the third time this season after earning her sixth conference goaltender of the week honor yesterday afternoon. Vetter posted a perfect 7-0-0 record with a 1.20 GAA and a .941 Sv% in the first month of 2023. The Lakeville, Minn., native has won 11-straight starts, while allowing one goal or fewer in nine of them, to improve her record to 19-3-2. Vetter backstopped the Gophers to a road sweep over No. 6 Minnesota Duluth to close out January and earn her 25th career victory
No. 3 Minnesota (22-3-2) is set to host No. 1 Ohio State (24-2-2) at Ridder Arena this weekend. Puck drop is slated for 6:00 pm on Friday and 2:00 pm on Saturday.
