Pedersen Leads Gophers After 36 Holes at Alister Mackenzie Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS - Graduate senior Jacob Pedersen leads the University of Minnesota men's golf team after 36 holes Monday at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Calif. 

The Gophers stand in eighth place overall after the first day of competition, collecting a team score of 14-under par (274-280–554). 

Tournament host-Cal-Berkeley holds the top spot with a team score of 46-under par (262-260–522). 

Notable:
Pedersen currently sits in a tie for 18th with a score of 5-under par (71-67) through the first 36 holes. He was one of two Gophers to record an eagle through 36 holes, doing so in round two on the par-5 15th hole. 

Stillwater natives Ben Warian (66-73) and Brock Winter (68-71) are tied for 27th. Winter was the second Gopher to record an eagle, doing so in the second round on the par-4 16th hole. Warian tallied nine birdies through his first two rounds. 

Junior Bennett Swavely (69-71) is in a tie for 38th, while graduate senior Gavin Hagstrom (72-72) finished his first day in a tie for 58th.
