MINNEAPOLIS – The Big Ten Conference announced the first of its postseason cross country awards on Wednesday, with redshirt senior Taylor Kreitinger and redshirt sophomore Leo Goodman both earning the conference's Sportsmanship Award.

The Sportsmanship Award honorees are individuals who have set themselves apart through hard work, sportsmanship and honorable behavior. These student-athletes must also be in good academic standing and demonstrate good citizenship outside of the sports setting.

Taylor Kreitinger has been Minnesota's No. 1 or No. 2 finisher three different times this season. She was the team's top finisher at both the Badger Classic in early September along with the Joe Piane Invite at Notre Dame in late September. She posted a lifetime best 5K time at Notre Dame, clocking a 17:11.3, on her way to a 28th-place finish. Kreitinger is also a one-time NCAA track and field regional qualifier, earning a spot last outdoor season in the 3000m steeplechase.

Leo Goodman has had his best season at the collegiate level this season, posting two different lifetime bests during the 2023 season so far. He posted an 8K lifetime best at the XC23 NCAA Pre-Nationals meet at Virginia on October 14, clocking a 24:28.2 to finish second on the team. He also finished second on the team at the 2023 Griak Invitational.

NCAA season lies ahead for the Maroon and Gold, as both the men's and women's teams will head to Stillwater, Okla., on Friday, Nov. 10 for the NCAA Midwest Regional. Oklahoma State University will play host to the Regional Championships, and will hold both races on the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course.
