Braun Named to Big Ten's Weekly Honor Roll

Braun averaged 25 points per game through the first week of the season.
MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota sophomore Mara Braun has been honored by the Big Ten on the conference's weekly honor roll for her performances through the first week of the 2023-24 season. The conference office also announced the Big Ten Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week on Monday.Â
The Wayzata, Minn., native dropped 25 points, 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game to help Minnesota pick up wins against LIU and Chicago State. Braun is the only player in the Big Ten so far this season to average 25 points per game, shoot 58 percent or better from the floor, 42 percent or better from three while also averaging 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game.Â
Against Chicago State Braun also became the third-fastest player to reach 500 career points in program history (31 games), besting the likes of Rachel Banham (32 games), Kenisha Bell (32 games) and Amanda Zahui B. (34 games). She scored 14 points in the first quarter in back-to-back games, both being her most points she's scored in the first quarter of her career. She's made at least one three in 14 consecutive games dating back to last season.Â
