\MINNEAPOLIS -- Four Gophers reached double figures in scoring as Minnesota raced to a 86-67 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday night at Williams Arena.

Rasahd Williams led the Lions with 26 points on the night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a back and forth first six minutes of the game as neither team led by more than two points until the 13:54 mark, when Minnesota's Braeden Carrington hit a 3-pointer to put his team up 18-13. The three sparked a 14-5 Gophers run that put the 'U' up double figures for the first time at 29-18.
Minnesota took its largest lead of the half at 51-30 after a three from Mike Mitchell Jr. at the 2:18 mark. UAPB would close the half on a 6-0 as Minnesota took a 51-36 lead into the break.
Minnesota shot 46.2 percent from the field in the first half and received scoring contributions from eight different players. Six different Gophers scored between six and eight points through the first 20 minutes of play. UAPB's Rashad Williams scored 20 of the team's 36 first half points.
In the second half, both teams started slow offensively, but the Gophers expanded their lead to 18 at 59-41 after a layup from Pharrell Payne. UAPB would cut into the deficit, however, going on an 8-0 run to slice the lead to 59-49 at the under-12 media timeout.
UAPB would cut the lead to as few as eight at 61-53 at the 10:19 mark, but would get no closer. An 11-4 run spiked the lead to 72-57, capped by a fastbreak dunk by Ola-Joseph.
The Gophers would balloon the lead to 19 after five late points from Carrington to take home the 86-67 victory.
