DES MOINES, IA. - The University of Minnesota tennis team wrapped its 2023 fall season on Sunday, finishing with an overall 13-4 singles record and 3-4 doubles record at the Drake Bulldog Classic. Every Gopher student-athlete notched at least two out of a possible three singles wins throughout the weekend, with sophomore Sofia Pinto reaching the three win mark.
On Friday, the team started strong with a perfect 6-0 singles record against St. Thomas and Drake, and a 1-1 doubles record against Mizzou. On Saturday, they went 5-1 in singles against Mizzou and Drake, and 1-2 in doubles against Drake. On Sunday, they finished 3-3 in singles against Drake and 1-1 in doubles against St. Thomas.

"We ended the fall season on a positive note," said head coach Lois Arterberry. "The level of tennis was high. We worked hard, winning thirteen out of the seventeen singles matches we played in. I'm proud of our athletes for pushing through the tiredness and emotion of the weekend, and especially for staying healthy. Our belief in this team is high and we will continue to grow and get better as we head into the spring season. We are building something really special here at Minnesota. It's a great time to be a part of this program."
