MINNEAPOLIS -- Three Minnesota alumni and one current Gopher have been named to Team USA's National Team roster ahead of two December contests against Team Canada in 2023-24 Rivalry Series, USA Hockey announced Thursday.
Current Gopher Abbey Murphy will don the Red, White and Blue in USA's matchups against Team Canada, as will Gopher alumni Kelly Pannek, Grace Zumwinkle and Taylor Heise. The three Maroon and Gold alumnae are selected to Team USA after joining Minnesota's Professional Women's Hockey League franchise, with Pannek signing with the team ahead of the draft in which Heise was selected No. 1 and Zumwinkle was selected No. 13.
Team USA claimed victory in both games in November, winning 3-1 on Nov. 8 and 5-2 on Nov. 11. Murphy recorded two assists across the two games, while Heise scored one goal and added one assist.
The third matchup is set for Dec. 14 in Kitchener, Ontario, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium, while game four will be played at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, Ontario on Dec. 16 at 5:00 p.m. ET. Both contests will be aired live on NHL Network.
