Second career weekly award

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Minnesota men's hockey forward Rhett Pitlick was named the Big Ten Conference Second Star of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.

Pitlick led the sixth-ranked Golden Gophers with a four-point weekend in another nationally-ranked rivalry series, registering multi-point efforts in both games against No. 14 Minnesota Duluth. The junior had a goal and an assist in the home win Friday before adding a two-assist night Saturday in a tie on the road.

It's the second time in the Plymouth, Minn., native's career that he went back-to-back outings with multiple points and extended his scoring streak to three games. Pitlick now has 10 career multi-point contests and is just two points away from 50 as a Gopher.

Pitlick also earned B1G Second Star of the Week honors during his freshman campaign (Feb. 15, 2022) following consecutive games with two points on the road at Ohio State. He joins Jimmy Snuggerud (Oct. 17) and Justen Close (Oct. 24) as weekly award winners for the Maroon and Gold this season, coming in three of the four weeks of competition.
