MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota men's golf head coach Justin Smith announced that Ryan Stendahl (Maple Grove, Minn.) has signed his National Letter of Intent to join the Gophers in 2024.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ryan and his family to our gopher golf program," Smith said. "Ryan fits our 'Commit North' culture so well and will have an immediate impact in our program on day one. The qualities that excite us the most in our recruiting process are passion, maturity, leadership and gratitude. Ryan possesses all of these, and he will be such a great fit in our program on and off the course.
"We always say that our recruiting starts and stops within the state of Minnesota. By Ryan joining our program, our Minnesota community can really be proud of his commitment to staying home and officially becoming a Gopher."
Stendahl was a member of the Maple Grove Crimson golf team for four years under head coach John Schetinski. In his last two state AAA individual championships, Stendahl finished fifth in both appearances. Stendahl also tied for seventh at the Minnesota State Junior Boy's Championship this past July. The 2005-born golfer is the oldest of two children and son to parents Derek and Jenny.
"Minnesota was the perfect fit," Stendahl said on why he signed with the Gophers. "It was a perfect fit with great coaches and teammates."
