The Inver Grove Heights native will join her older sister, Isabella McCauley, as a Gopher

MINNEAPOLIS - Head coach Rhyll Brinsmead and the Golden Gopher women's golf team have announced that Reese McCauley has signed her National Letter of Intent to join the 2024-25 freshmen class. McCauley is the lone signee of this year's signing class. The Minnesota Native will join her sister, Sophomore Isabella McCauley, as a member of the Maroon & Gold.

The Simley high school product boasts numerous Minnesota state golf accolades. As a freshman in 2021, McCauley won her first high school state tournament where she carded a 5-under-par 139. She repeated this feat just two years later, winning once again as a junior in 2023 with an 8-under-par 136. After earning her second state title, she was named the Star Tribune's 2023 Girls Golfer of the Year. Outside of high school competition, McCauley made a deep run to the quarterfinals at the 2022 USGA Girls' Junior Championship, finishing tied for 5th. She followed this performance up in 2023 with another top-10 finish, placing T-9. McCauley also came runner-up in the 2022 Minnesota Girls Junior PGA Championship.

"We've been eagerly awaiting this day, adding another McCauley to the roster. Anyone that knows golf in the state of Minnesota knows the McCauley name. Reese is one of the most sought after recruits in the class of 2024" head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "After her run to the quarterfinals at the 2022 USGA girls junior she could literally have gone to any school she wanted. We're so thankful she chose to stay home and play for the Gophers. Reese has great length off the tee and a short game that is as good as I've seen. Her game will translate well into college golf and I'd expect her to make an immediate impact on the team"

"I chose the University of Minnesota because I am excited to play for my home state," said Reese McCauley. "They have amazing facilities and the team culture there is like a family. Also, I am looking forward to the special experience of being on the team with my sister."
