Minnesota defensive back is the program leader with 13 career interceptions

The Sporting News, which is one of the five outlets that the NCAA uses to select its consensus and unanimous All-American teams, announced today that Minnesota defensive back Tyler Nubin is a First Team All-American.

This honor is the latest for Nubin who was named a Second Team All-American earlier this week by the Walter Camp Foundation, the AP and the FWAA. He was also previously named an All-Big Ten First Team selection.

Nubin made 53 tackles this year and had five interceptions and four pass breakups. He has played in 55 career games for the Maroon and Gold and has made 207 tackles. His 13 career interceptions are a program record.

He is the first Gopher to be recognized by the Sporting News since Antoine Winfield Jr. was honored in 2019 as a First-Team selection.
