Gophers Sign Katie Krohn for 2024 Season

Krohn is a MAC-All First Team selection from Buffalo
MINNEAPOLIS - Head soccer coach Erin Chastain has announced the addition of transfer forward, Katie Krohn. Krohn joins the Gophers after competing at the University of Buffalo the last two seasons.Â
"I chose the University of Minnesota because of the community and camaraderie within the team and all of athletics," said Krohn."
As a rookie, Krohn appeared in 21 games, starting 20. She finished five goals and dished out 31 shots, along with two assists. Her first career goal was the game-winner against Duqesne and went on to score two others against Yale and Central Michigan. Krohn capped off her freshman season with MAC All-Freshman Team accolades.
During a standout sophomore campaign, the MAC All-First Team selection scored a league-best 13 goals along with four assists, finishing the year with 30 points. She also led the conference in goals per game (0.72), points (30) and points per game (1.67). Her 13 goals are tied for third all-time in Buffalo's program history in the program's Division I era. For her efforts, she earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region Midwest Second Team honors.Â
As a prep, she played for Schoharie High School and the Albany Rush UWS. She is Section II's all-time leading scorer, recording 40+ goals per season. Krohn is a sx-time Western Athletic Conference All-Star and was named WAC MVP her senior year. She led Schoharie to a sectional and regional championship and a trip to the state semifinals in 2016.Â
She is the daughter of Marie and John Krohn and has three siblings, Johnny, Carrie, and Megan. Carrie played soccer at Siena and Megan at Albany, both NCAA Division I institutions.Â
