Gophers Baseball Announces 2024 Schedule

Minnesota is set to play a 48-game schedule
MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Golden Gophers baseball program has officially announced their schedule for the 2024 season.
The Gophers will play 24 non-conference games and a full 24-game Big Ten schedule.
"The 2024 schedule will be especially challenging due to the disappointing news that US Bank Stadium will not be available to play any home games in March forcing us to play the first 22 games on the road," said head coach John Anderson. "We will embrace this challenge and I believe this team has the right mindset and attitude that will allow us to play the game at a consistently high level each week against this competitive field of non-conference teams."
The 2024 schedule features 17 home games, 24 away games and seven neutral site games. Of their 17 home games, 12 are part of weekend series against Big Ten opponents (Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska and Michigan State).
"I am confident the schedule will help us learn and grow so we are prepared to compete against the strong competition we will face during the BIg Ten season. Our travels will take us to all 4 time zones in the country, adding to the challenge. Monitoring the rest and recovery of players will be a priority for our student-athletes and staff so they are able to create the best version of themselves each time they step on the field," added Anderson.
Minnesota kicks off their season at the College Baseball Classic in Surprise, Ariz. (Feb. 16-19) for the second year in a row. The Gophers will face Oregon State twice, CSU Bakersfield and New Mexico. The following weekend, the team will travel to Fort Myers, Fla. to take on the Minnesota Twins in an exhibition game before squaring off against Northeastern University (Feb. 24-25) for two neutral site games.
The 'U' will open up the month of March in northern California with two games each against University of the Pacific (March 1, 4) and Sacramento State (March 2-3) before visiting Spokane, Wash. for a three-game series at Gonzaga (March 7-9).
Minnesota will head east for a weekend series at Elon University in North Carolina (March 15-17) prior to closing out their non-conference road schedule at the University of San Francisco (March 22-24).
Big Ten play opens up on the road for the third consecutive year as the Gophers head to Iowa City, Iowa for a three-game series against the Hawkeyes. Minnesota is set to host their home opener on April 2 in a mid-week contest against South Dakota State before welcoming Illinois to Siebert Field in their first conference home series (April 5-7).
After a mid-week game at home versus North Dakota State (April 9), the Gophers will be back on the road to play a three-game series at Michigan (April 12-14).
A six-game home stretch for the 'U' begins on April 16 with weekday games against NDSU and SDSU before Indiana comes to town for a weekend series (April 19-21). St. Thomas will make the trip across town to wrap up the non-conference schedule for the Gophers on April 23.
A road trip to University Park, Pa. to face Penn State for a weekend series (April 26-28) is all that separates Minnesota from their second six-game homestand. Nebraska (May 3-5) and Michigan State (May 10-12) will come to Dinkytown in back-to-back weekends to round out the Gophers home contests. The series against Michigan State will also be senior weekend at Siebert Field.
The Gophers will complete their regular season schedule with a trip to Evanston, Ill. (May 16-18) to take on the Northwestern Wildcats.
The Big Ten Tournament is scheduled for May 21-26 in Omaha, Neb.
The 2024 campaign will represent Anderson's 43rd and final year at the helm of the program. With 1,365 wins heading into the season, Anderson is the winningest coach in Big Ten history and ranks third in victories among active Division I head baseball coaches.

-The 'U' will play Oregon State twice in the College Baseball Classic in Surprise, Ariz. on Feb. 17 and Feb. 19. The Beavers finished 2023 as the No. 23 team in Division I after making the NCAA Tournament.
-Northeastern made the NCAA Tournament in 2023. Minnesota will play a two-game series against the Huskies in Fort Myers, Fla. from Feb. 24-25.
-Iowa and Indiana both made the NCAA Tournament in 2023. The Gophers will open Big Ten play in Iowa City, Iowa in March and will host the Indiana Hoosiers in April.
