Gophers Sign Nora Knezevic to 2024-25 Class

MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota head tennis coach Lois Arterberry announced Nora Knezevic as the first signing of the Golden Gophers' 2024-25 class. Knezevic, of Zagreb, Croatia, will join the Maroon and Gold after graduating from Privatna sportska i jezicna gimnazija Franjo Bucar.

"Nora is a great addition to our program," said Arterberry. "She is coming with a ton of experience from the Junior Circuit, with a career-high ranking of 187. As the program continues to grow, we look for players who fit athletically, academically, and, most importantly, culturally. Nora is just that. She and her family are great to spend time with and all have a great understanding of the sport and Nora's career goals. We are very excited to have our first commit for 2024 and look forward to Nora joining the Gopher family."

Knezevic reached her career-high 187 ITF ranking last year, and currently ranks at 491. She has previously held the top Croatian U12 ranking, as well as being No. 2 in Croatian U14, U16, and U18.

Knezevic's ITF career saw her win both ITF G4 and G5 singles. She also was a two-time doubles ITF G4 and G5 winner, and won ITF G3 doubles as well.

Throughout her junior-level career, Knezevic placed 2nd in the Croatian National Championship in U12, U14, and U16. She was the Croatian National Championship doubles winner in U12, U14, and U16, and was a runner-up in U18. Knezevic was also the Croatian Masters winner in U13 and U15, a Tennis Europe grade 3 singles winner and grade 1 singles finalist, as well as achieved career-high Tennis Europe rankings of 22 (U14) and 23 (U16).

"I really like the environment, the coaches, and all the girls on the team," Knezevic said. "The vibe is very positive. Everyone is trying to do the best they can and push each other to be better. The city is also very nice and close to the campus, so it is easy to go there, take a walk, and hang out with teammates."

Off the court, Knezevic enjoys horror movies despite not being able to watch them all the way through. She is the daughter of Kruno and Karen Knezevic, and has a brother, Jan.
