The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team gave a valiant effort against No. 2 Michigan at the Crisler Center on Friday night, but ended up falling by a score of 197.975 to 197.075.

Notable
Junior Mya Hooten stole the show once again for the Gophers, earning a 39.500 all-around score which included an event title-winning 9.950 on both vault and bars, a 9.975 on floor that was also good for the event title, and a 9.625 on beam.

Setting a new career high on beam was junior Gianna Gerdes with a 9.900 score, the highest on the team. Gerdes also finished with a 9.900 on floor, 9.825 on vault, and tied a career high with a 9.875 on bars, which all led to a career-high all-around score of 39.500.

Senior Halle Remlinger impressed yet again on vault, bars and floor, scoring 9.825, 9.875 and 9.925, respectively.

Quotable
"Today was another great step forward for the team," head coach Jenny Hansen said. "We had some amazing routines, several career highs and are excited for the opportunity to keep getting better each and every week."
