Iowa jumped out to an 11-2 lead and held an 18-6 advantage at the 11:53 mark, but the Gophers battled back with a 16-6 run over the next five minutes. Henley scored all seven of his first-half points during the stretch, and Ola-Joseph had six, as Minnesota cut the deficit to 24-22 with 5:54 remaining. The Hawkeyes regained a six-point edge, but Jamison Battle's three-pointer with 35 seconds left in the half made it 32-29 at the break. Minnesota was 13-of-24 (.542) from the field in the first half.
The Hawkeyes outscored the Gophers 14-8 to start the second half, which stretched the lead back to nine points. Trailing 50-41, Minnesota used a 9-4 run to cut it to 54-50 with 7:58 left, but Iowa's 12-2 response over the next five minutes gave the visitors their largest lead, 66-52, and they held on for the win. Kris Murray topped the Hawkeyes with game-highs of 28 points and 14 rebounds.
The Gophers head to East Lansing, Mich., to face Michigan State on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 6:00 p.m. CDT on BTN.
