MINNEAPOLIS – Sophomore catcher Taylor Krapf has been named Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
The Oviedo, Fla., native led the Golden Gophers offensively over the weekend.
Krapf's weekend was highlighted by five home runs, leaving the yard at least once against each opponent at the Baylor Invitational. The sophomore hit .692 with seven runs, and eight RBI. Through five games, Krapf went 9-for-13, slugging 1.846 with a .733 on-base clip.
Against the Lions, Krapf had a career-best two home runs scored, along with four RBI - a weekend high.
This is Krapf's first Big Ten Weekly honor of her career in the Maroon and Gold, and the second for Minnesota this season. Freshman Jess Oakland picked up Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Feb. 13, 2023.
Krapf and the Gophers will travel to the Golden State this weekend to compete at the Judi Garman Invitational – Minnesota will compete against No. 24 Oregon, No. 14 LSU, RV Cal State Fullerton, Seattle, and Loyola Marymount. The Maroon and Gold's road trip will be capped off with a game against RV San Diego State on Tuesday night.
