Quarles Named Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week After Perfect 10 On Vault

MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota redshirt senior Maddie Quarles has earned her very first Big Ten weekly award, the conference announced Wednesday. The Andover, Minn. native has been named Event Specialist of the Week after scoring a perfect 10 at the Big Five meet last Saturday.
Quarles' perfect 10 on vault propelled the Gophers to a season-high 49.425 team score on vault against their conference opponents in Lincoln, Neb. on Feb. 25. The Maroon and Gold have been strong on vault all season long, having never ranked lower than 15th in the weekly national rankings and have only been outside of the top 10 twice.
In her fourth season donning the Maroon and Gold, Quarles is averaging a score of 9.828 on vault. In eight competitions, she's scored under a 9.875 just twice.
Quarles and the Gophers will host the Boise State Broncos on Saturday at 4 p.m. CT, the final regular season meet at Maturi Pavilion this year. Quarles and the other seven seniors will be honored as a part of senior night.
