Gophers Top 197 for Second Week in a Row, Earn Road Victory in Meeting With Razorbacks

The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team finished with a score of 197.075 in a win against the No. 16 Arkansas Razorbacks on Friday night. The Gophers will head back to Minneapolis with a win before traveling to Iowa for the Big Ten Championships on March 18.Â

Gerdes competed in all four events on Friday night – as she's done in every meet in 2023 – finishing with an all-around score of 38.775. She scored 9.825 on vault and bars, 9.175 on beam, and 9.950 on floor.

BARS
Minnesota started its night on bars, with freshman Seria Johnson leading off for the Gophers. She earned a 9.825, as did Gerdes. The seniors led the way for the Maroon and Gold, with Remlinger and fifth-year senior Tiarre Sales each earning a score of 9.875. Sophomore Marissa Jencks added a 9.850 to the team total of 49.250, while Hooten rounded out the lineup with a 9.750.
VAULT
The Gophers took to vault in the second rotation, with redshirt senior Maddie Quarles once again leading the charge for Minnesota. Quarles earned a 9.950, now the fifth time she's scored a 9.900 or higher this season. Freshman Sarah Moraw tied a season-high score with a 9.850, taking the second spot on the Gophers' leaderboard. Hooten, Jencks, Gerdes and Remlinger each earned a score of 9.825.

Coming off a season-high score of 49.700 in their outing last Saturday against Boise State, Minnesota was powered by another strong performance on floor against Arkansas. Gerdes led the way by tying a career high with a 9.950 for the second week in a row, with Remlinger and Hooten following her in the standings with 9.925 apiece. Johnson continued her impressive freshman campaign with a 9.875 on floor, with senior Mallory LeNeave and Jencks following her with scores of 9.800 and 9.850, respectively.Â
BEAM
The top of the Maroon and Gold beam lineup powered the Gophers to a team score that tied for second highest this season. Sales earned a 9.900 on the apparatus for the second consecutive week, and Moraw added a 9.875 for Minnesota's top two scores. Junior Emily Koch started the Gophers off with a 9.825, and sophomore Lauren Pearl earned a 9.800. Fifth-year senior Abbie Nylin added a 9.625 to the team's score of 49.025.
