CORALVILLE - The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team finished with a score of 197.250 at the first session of the Big Ten Championships on Saturday afternoon, the highest score out of the six teams competing in the first session. After the evening session results were finalized, the Gophers finish third out of all Big Ten teams.

Notable
The Maroon and Gold ended their session of the Big Ten Championships with their season-best score on beam. They wrapped up the second rotation with a score of 49.450, which was their highest score in any of the four events on the day.

Junior Mya Hooten stole the show on floor, ending with a session-leading score of 9.950 to claim a tie for the Big Ten title. Her success didn't stop on the floor, as in the next rotation she earned a vault score of 9.925, also placing her in a tie for the Big Ten title.

Building off of her regular season success, senior Halle Remlinger added a 9.900 on floor on Saturday.

Quotable
I'm just really proud of the way the team performed today. Our beam team really stood out, as this was the kind of performance we knew they'd been capable of all season long. For them to do it today at the Big Ten Championships will hopefully give us a lot of confidence moving forward," head coach Jenny Hansen said. "Otherwise, just a really solid day. For us to finish our session and then move up a few spots and finish third here tonight was a really exciting way to finish this championship and obviously we're proud to bring home a couple individual Big Ten Championships as well."

All-Around
Junior Gianna Gerdes' consistency in all four events carried over into postseason play, as she finished with an all-around score of 39.475, which is the second-highest score of her career. Her score earned her a sixth-place finish in the all-around.
