Gophers Garner Record-High 16 WCGA Scholastic All-America Honors

The University of Minnesota gymnastics teams had a program-best 16 members receive WCGA Scholastic All-America awards, the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association announced Wednesday.
The student-athletes who earned honors are: Gianna Gerdes, Leah Gonsiorowski, Lilly Gullickson, Seria Johnson, Jordyn Lyden, Sarah Moraw, Isabella Nguyen, Sophia Nguyen, Arianna Ostrum, Lauren Pearl, Brooklyn Rowray, Lacie Saltzmann, Emma Slevin, Megan Steensland, Ava Stewart, Sophie Swartzmiller.
Minnesota posted a 3.60 Team GPA, including Sarah Moraw, with a perfect 4.0 GPA. The Gophers also had four additional students with GPAs of 3.95 or higher: Ava Stewart (3.97), Isabella Nguyen (3.97), Megan Steensland (3.96) and Leah Gonsiorowski (3.95).
To be a WCGA Scholastic All-American Award winner, student-athletes must have a yearly or cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or above. 2026 marks the seventh year in a row the gymnastics team has had at least 13 members earn the academic award.
Overall, 1,195 student-athletes earned a 3.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale, 77.15% of all reporting gymnasts, the most ever by percentage (since available records in 2008). There were 293 (18.92%) student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA. This was the sixth year in a row with more than 1,000 Scholastic All-America winners, and two of the top five universities broke into the lineup for the first time ever! Across all gymnasts this year, the average GPA was a 3.6339 which is the second highest (since available records in 2015), 70 institutions had a team GPA of a 3.5 or better, and in eleven of the last twelve years, at least one institution each year has had 100% of its athletes qualify for this prestigious award (four institutions achieved 100% honors this year).
"The WCGA could not be more proud of the extraordinary standard of academic excellence set by our collegiate women's gymnastics programs each and every year. Achieving elite performance on the competition floor requires immense discipline, and balancing that with top-tier academic dedication in the classroom is a testament to the team culture, character, and work ethic of these student-athletes," said Sarah Brown, Chair of the WCGA Board of Directors. "Each and every program has demonstrated that our sport is built on a foundation of total excellence, and the relentless commitment of these young women to their education inspires our entire coaching community."
