George Klassen Named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week

The right-hander tossed 7.2 scoreless innings Saturday, allowing one hit
ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Minnesota Golden Gophers redshirt sophomore right-hander George Klassen has been named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Klassen tossed a career-best 7.2 innings on Saturday versus Houston, striking out a career-high eight hitters allowing zero earned runs and just one hit. He walked just two batters on the afternoon in what was a career outing for him. He left in the top of the eighth with one man on and two outs.
Klassen is Minnesota's first Big Ten Pitcher of the Week since Aidan Maldonado won the award on May 11, 2022. Klassen holds a 5.23 ERA this season in 20.2 IP, striking out 26.
Minnesota is back in action tomorrow at 2 p.m. CT at Illinois State. ESPN+ will stream.
